Subject: Re: Your Move - Follow Up

Hi Adam,

Everything went very smoothly. I haven't inspected everything yet, but as far as I can tell nothing that I sent was missing or damaged. The movers on both ends were very professional and hard-working; the movers in the US especially put in a lot of effort to wrap up everything and pack it properly so that nothing would break. Going to three locations to pick things up was difficult and took a full day, but the guys worked hard through to the end. The movers who delivered everything to my apartment in Israel also worked hard and helped us unpack everything. And, of course, everything was coordinated by your office so the whole move was pretty effortless on my part. I would definitely recommend Kef to anybody else, I can't think of anything that could have been better. I'll let you know if I discover that anything has, in fact, been damaged or gone missing, but as of now, it looks like everything is fine. So, I of course want to thank you and the others for all of your help and hard work. I really appreciate your making this final step in my aliyah process happen!

Thanks,

Thanks for the email! Baruch Hashem we were very impressed with Kef's service. Everything was very smooth and professional. All of the communication was clear and timely. Our unpackers in Israel were very fast and even assembled more furniture than we expected. Most other olim report having major challenges regarding their lift and we are very grateful that this was not our case. We would definitely use Kef again and would recommend you.

Hi Adam,

We were very pleased with our decision to use Kef for our move. From the pick up in NJ to the delivery in Modiin, we had nothing but positive experiences. The packers/unpackers were all professional, respectful and efficient. We were packed up and later unloaded quite quickly and all of our stuff left and arrived safely and in great condition. Furthermore, the Kef office staff were always available to answer questions and always responded in a timely fashion. We would for sure recommend your services. I worked with KEF and Neil Kummer. It was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. When I had a dispute with the mover of origin, Neil helped to resolve it. I second the motion about KEF. I shipped during the strike, it took a lot longer to get my shipment, but I did not get stuck with the extra shipping changes like a lot of others did, Thanks to Neil who held it back till he could get it here instead of Italy or Turkey or wherever. His knowledge of the business, his honesty, and above all his treatment of you as a person not a number or dollar is amazing.

In addition the US affiliate he used was the best and most efficient and I have made several moves around the states so I have a reference point.

In any event, if you use KEF, you will be happy. My son used another one 3 years ago and is still fighting to get his losses paid for even tho he paid for insurance.

Hi Miriam,

We have sent three lifts all together... long story why... but suffice it to say that Omega was the worst nightmare I could ever have experienced, and we ended up feeling literally brutalized, because in addition to their errors and liabilities, their manner was 100 percent abusive.

Our best service by far, was Neil Kummer at Kef International. And he was not one cent more expensive, and was ethical enough to even *return* money at the end of the process, because we came in under budget. He is a gem and can be reached at Kef International.

He also sells a wonderful selection of appliances, both pre and post aliyah in Israel as well.

Just our experiences....

Maybe it helps...

Dear Neal and Daniel,

Today my children in Israel received their lift. I have to tell you after so much fear and trepidation, I was relieved to have you take care of all the red tape in Israel. I came to you at the last minute, and you performed with flying colors. My newly married children did not have to worry about shlepping to the port, filling out meches papers, dealing with Israeli bureaucrats and endless red tape. Your fee was well worth the agmas nefesh it saved them.... The lift arrived on time as you said, and the movers were especially courteous, even at a second stop when you would think they would be hurried and rushed. They put everything where it was needed and were really nice. This is the second time I am using Kef and I recommend their services to anyone making aliyah or as we were, sending a lift as a tourist. It really is hassle free. i know that seems impossible for Israel, but with Neal and Daniel, it is true...

Final word, EXCELLENT, The men who delivered were here and done within a hour, put everything where we wanted it, took whatever time was necessary to make sure I was able to check master inventory numbers against boxes, cleaned EVERYTHING up and left my home and property as it was …This was a small lift compared to many others I know, but just as important to me as a 40ft container is to others.

… during the process I never felt uninformed by KEF and remained confident in your handling of everything.

Dear Joan and Neil,

It's been nearly a year since your guys brought what I had come to think of as "my stuff" to my new dira in Kfar Saba. I dug around in it, found some great clothes and shoes, and took off on a trip to the States and then to tour Germany with my Israeli choir. I never told you, but everything arrived in perfect condition, and I never once (even when we lost both of our inventory lists--bloody computers!) had a second thought about your service.

So today I opened the envelope and found the refund of my deposit, which I had long ago forgotten about. I can say that I was pleased, and not at all surprised that you found me and sent the check--it is the way you do business!

Thank you for your service to me, during what was truly a wondrous and terrible (in the truest sense of the word) life experience. I really needed "door to door" service, and someone to hold my hand during the move, and you did it all.

Thanks again, for everything!

I used Kef. Everything went super smoothly. My shipment was arriving during the war and they handled those issues no problem. The people who showed up to pack my stuff were Israeli kids trying to make a buck in America after the Army. They were hard workers, quick, and polite - and were really interested in chatting about where I'd be living, etc. I tipped them - don't recall how much - but everything arrived in perfect condition with not a SINGLE item broken/stolen. Not saying they are always this good, but for me it was one of the "easiest" parts of my Aliyah! I will be sending a second lift in the next year, and when I am ready, I will for sure be calling them.

Dear Neil,

Just a note to tell you that I am glad I chose your company KEF to send my mother's shipment from the US to Israel. My choice had narrowed down to KEF and another company, both of which came highly recommended stateside. In the end, I chose your company because I wanted to make sure that I had someone to talk to in Israel at the time my shipment arrived in port. (Another factor was I had also been most favorably impressed by the detailed and very useful Guidelines document you sent to me. It was most helpful to me at every stage of the moving process.) Choosing KEF proved to be a wise choice on my part, as you and your office staff were always available whether by phone or by email, invariably courteous, always prompt to respond, even when I made unorthodox demands on you (like my request that the movers take me along in their truck to the two drop-off addresses). When the shipment was delivered and I could inspect its condition, all the components were there and in excellent condition, and the movers were most cordial and professional - it was a pleasure over-tipping them. I thank you in my mother's name and send you our best wishes.

Subject: Re: Shipping and moves to TA

I have to ditto this about KEF. I sent two lifts. One was with the Gamma Omega team and boy did they double-team me. The second was with KEF. Neil gave me a complete disclosure and knowing that it is my duty to read the contract, I read the contact with the detailed disclosure of costs. There were unknowns (e.g., difficult access), but they were explained and possible ranges of fees were provided. His agent in Yevna and I had a little disagreement about types of saws, but she eventually came around to accepting my position and represented me with success to the customs authorities.

Also, access to my flat in Ramat Gan was very difficult and the delivery guys really had to work extra hard to get my belongings into my place. I was happy to give them a very generous tip, which I had budgeted for, knowing with forethought how hard they would have to work. It was clearly explained to me by Neil that if my place was too far from the street or was on a higher kumat with no ma'alit, I would be charged more and I should expect to tip the delivery guys, too. In addition to that, as a courtesy I bought several bottles of water and juice for the delivery team.

I also shipped with KEF about two and a half years ago and had no problems. Out of a 20 ft. container only one item was damaged. It was the top of a glass-top coffee table. I was able to salvage it by cutting the broken part and making the table a bit smaller. All the large items were placed in the house in the proper location. Some of the items had to be reassembled and that was done by the moving teem. All the debris was removed. In short, I was very satisfied.

As far as the lift goes, I must make special mention for Neil Kummer and KEF. From beginning in Denver to after we settled in Efrat, Neil has been superlative.

He gave ongoing, thorough and correct advice on every subject I brought to him, and made himself available to give it. Hi Kira,

Everything KEF did for me was done professionally and was very satisfactory, especially their choice of movers on the Israeli end.

KEF did not do my initial shipping (my first 'lift') when I made Aliyah; I didn't kow about KEF at that time. All of that was done by Rainier.

What KEF did, after we arrived in Israel, was to help us to purchase lots of appliances (TV, VCR, Microwave, etc.) from the States and arrange for all the shipping, customs, deliveries, etc. We didn't want to buy things until we knew where we would be living in Israel.

(A personal note is necessary here; my wife and I had the friendliest divorce imaginable last year -- we're still each others' best friends -- because she wanted to live in the States and I wanted to stay here.)

KEF handled all the packing, transporting, etc., for my ex-wife's things that were shipped back to the States. KEF handled everything except the divorce.

All prices KEF quoted were accurate; nothing was broken; pickup/delivery times were kept; customer service was always prompt.

I heartily recommend them. Good luck with your move.

Subject: Kef's movers

... Anyway, regarding Kef's movers here in Israel: We were very very pleased with the guys who delivered our lift here. They were very courteous, did a good job, and were very appreciative of the tip we gave them. It was a real pleasure after I was expecting much worse.

Now I am at the point where I need to start buying stuff before my rights run out. I have nothing and would like to buy a fridge, TV, washing-machine, stove, stereo and car... wheeh! Are there any other items that I should take advantage of before my rights run out? Is it better to make my purchases in Israel or to purchase in America and do a shipment?

Since you are already living here (Mazal Tov!), I think it would be better, easier and in the long run, cheaper for you to purchase here in Israel. I would sincerely suggest you call Neil Kummer (on this list, "Mr. KEF") and arrange an interview with him, he can answer all your questions and arrange for door-to-door delivery.

Anyone else on this list, before "automatically" going to Aryeh of ABC, I would seriously check out KEF's prices and policies. When you have a problem that needs solving right away, Aryeh is in NYC; Neil is here. It was one of the things I thought was very helpful when I used him oh-so-long ago........

Hint: Neil of Kef who participates on this list (& has a very helpful web site) can help you with most of this (of course for a fee). And no I don't work for him, but do consider him a friend. Long, Here, here. We also bought appliances through KEF, and although there have been some minor problems, Neil deserves great praise for his willingness to provide a great deal of information about a large variety of appliances, and no fee was charged for the information and long discussion about different options - I havent heard of any dealer in the US who is willing to spend time on such discussion or on information gathering if you dont want to go with the standard options.

A commission is charged if you order through him - but even with this, some, but obviously not all, the prices were still cheaper though than ones I was quoted in the US.
