Subject: Passageways

Dear Neil and Ed,

The Passageways Exhibit finally landed on our doorstep. We've been slowly unpacking it and want to tell you how carefully and beautifully packed every component was. Everything was meticulously handled and prepared for shipping. The interior of the crates was a work of art unto itself!

Although we haven't unpacked everything yet, all the important artwork is in excellent condition. Please convey to the packers that we appreciate and recognize what a great job they did. And we thank you both for orchestrating this complicated shipment. We appreciate your care and patience in bringing this exhibit back to the U.S.

We wish you all a Shana Tovah--and a hopefully a year of peace and quiet.

Regards,
Shari Davis and Benny Ferdman

Go with KEF for sure. I just shipped from Columbia. Kef uses Aarid of Baltamore locally. The whole experience was WONDEFUL! Neal, Ed, and Joan were in touch consistently and made the whole process great!

We also used Kef and were pleased. Nothing was broken, the service was good, and we purchased our major appliances through Kef and they were put into our lift prior to shipping. Also, when our lift came to Israel the movers came with a truck with a conveyor belt that moved everything (American size regrigerator, washer/dryer, etc.. everything) from the truck on the ground up four stories to our apartment balcony so there was no banging anything up the stairs.

Subject: Re: [BS/RBS list] Did you use Kef International to bring a lift?

We have shipped three lifts, B"H.

The last one was with Kef, and Neil Kummer there could not have been better or more honest and responsive... it made us very much regret our two previous choices which seemed like they would be slightly cheaper at the outset, but in the end they brought damage, theft, and dishonesty.

Also, it was because of Neil that we bought our oven through Kef the way we did, and I believe I have the finest oven in all of Israel! B"H....

Hope that helps.

Subject: KEF Results

Dear Neil: As I mentioned to you earlier, I wanted to thank you again for helping us with our lift and providing the answers to all of our questions and worries. You and the KEF team were really the one-stop shop for all of our shipment needs, and it was a pleasure doing business with you. Thanks for all of your help and for the delivery -- of your promises as well as of the contents of our shipment! I will gladly and confidently recommend KEF to others.

All the best,

Subject: Re: Shipping and moves to TA

I have to ditto this about KEF. I sent two lifts. One was with the Gamma Omega team and boy did they double-team me. The second was with KEF. Neil gave me a complete disclosure and knowing that it is my duty to read the contract, I read the contact with the detailed disclosure of costs. There were unknowns (e.g., difficult access), but they were explained and possible ranges of fees were provided. His agent in Yevna and I had a little disagreement about types of saws, but she eventually came around to accepting my position and represented me with success to the customs authorities.

Also, access to my flat in Ramat Gan was very difficult and the delivery guys really had to work extra hard to get my belongings into my place. I was happy to give them a very generous tip, which I had budgeted for, knowing with forethought how hard they would have to work. It was clearly explained to me by Neil that if my place was too far from the street or was on a higher kumat with no ma'alit, I would be charged more and I should expect to tip the delivery guys, too. In addition to that, as a courtesy I bought several bottles of water and juice for the delivery team.

First, I have seen various posts regarding shipping the last couple days. I don't believe I have said so yet (and if so, I have been very remiss), but I did my shipment through Kef with no problems whatsoever, and only one item damaged (not bad out of 17 boxes crammed with dishes, porcelain and the like). And yes, they brought everything into my house.
:)

I also shipped with KEF about two and a half years ago and had no problems. Out of a 20 ft. container only one item was damaged. It was the top of a glass-top coffee table. I was able to salvage it by cutting the broken part and making the table a bit smaller. All the large items were placed in the house in the proper location. Some of the items had to be reassembled and that was done by the moving teem. All the debris was removed. In short, I was very satisfied.

Dear Neil and Kef,

Our lift arrived almost 2 weeks ago, and now that we are fairly settled, I just wanted to say that both Lisa and I think you did a great job, and were especially happy that you were so responsive when we had questions and specific needs.

We are recommending you highly to our friends.

Take care,

Alan (and Lisa)

Subject: RE: [nefeshbnefesh] making do while waiting for the lift

As far as the lift goes, I must make special mention for Neil Kummer and KEF. From beginning in Denver to after we settled in Efrat, Neil has been superlative.

He gave ongoing, thorough and correct advice on every subject I brought to him, and made himself available to give it. He supervised an incredibly successful move, and held my hand (figuratively, since he did all the leg work) while the lift went through its stages, especially the wait in port during Chol Hamoed. I even got a residual refund at the end, which came in handy here. He is a professional of the highest magnitude.

So, thank you , Neil.

Dear Kef People:

I want to thank you for all of your work regarding my move from Montreal to Tel Aviv. Everything is now unpacked and more or less placed and I just want to thank you for the ease of the move.

You worked hard and I thank you. Not one box is missing, nothing broke and the men who unloaded were very nice. They had a problem with the large truck and a narrow street with cars parked on both sides, but they did it!

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Lola Gordon

Mazal Tov, Saul You are making a smart move. Neil bought our appliances, stored our stuff for 3(!) years and then imported it all and also all my medical office equipment. He just ordered and brought in a new appliance for me last month. He knows what he is doing. It can a difficult experience at any rate. I think that you will find Neil helpful and trustworthy as opposed to many so called importers. I suggest that you be sure to insure everything as well as you can. Neil can do that for you. I know a woman who put her stuff on a ship and the ship sank! So, you never know.

Hope that helps and best of luck. Anybody who is making aliya now deserves special recognition.

What do you plan to do here?

"Below is a sample (KEF) which also shows at the bottom where you can get on Tachlis subscription list. Incidentally, Neil Kummer handled my shipping. His representatives will come to your home and pack everything for you, or advise you if you prefer to do it yourself. He'll give you door to door service, advise you on insurance matters, and anything else you might want to know. He handles little-bitty shipments (like mine), as well as the big jobs--with no hidden charges. You will know the total cost before you leave. He is thoroughly dependable."

Neil, because I very much appreciate the service you provided for me, I am happy to recommend you to my friends. I'm sure they will be contacting you when they are ready.

Subject: Re: Reference for KEF

Hi Kira,

Everything KEF did for me was done professionally and was very satisfactory, especially their choice of movers on the Israeli end.

KEF did not do my initial shipping (my first 'lift') when I made Aliyah; I didn't kow about KEF at that time. All of that was done by Rainier.

What KEF did, after we arrived in Israel, was to help us to purchase lots of appliances (TV, VCR, Microwave, etc.) from the States and arrange for all the shipping, customs, deliveries, etc. We didn't want to buy things until we knew where we would be living in Israel.

(A personal note is necessary here; my wife and I had the friendliest divorce imaginable last year -- we're still each others' best friends -- because she wanted to live in the States and I wanted to stay here.)

KEF handled all the packing, transporting, etc., for my ex-wife's things that were shipped back to the States. KEF handled everything except the divorce.

All prices KEF quoted were accurate; nothing was broken; pickup/delivery times were kept; customer service was always prompt.

I heartily recommend them. Good luck with your move.

Subject: Re: Shipping from LA to Jerusalem : Comparing Movers

I sent two shipments from LA using Kef and was very pleased with them both times. They were efficient and timely on both sides and I didn't have any damages. I was able to have my purchases shpped directly to their warehouse. They came to my house to pickup what I had packed and to pack my breakables. The main reason I chose them was the fact that if there were problems, they are headquartered here and I would be able to deal with them in English.

Good luck and Hag Sameach

I got the Maytag stackable washer/dryer through Kef & I was completely satisfied by their service. I brought just these items in as a shipment (my 2nd) & I'm not sorry. Frankly I can't imagine what I'll do with my 3rd (probably I'll forget about it). I highly recommend this method, & if you do decide that you want a US stove or one of the other appliances from the US, then you can bring it along with the Maytag.

Subject: Re: Buying Stuff.......

Now I am at the point where I need to start buying stuff before my rights run out. I have nothing and would like to buy a fridge, TV, washing-machine, stove, stereo and car... wheeh! Are there any other items that I should take advantage of before my rights run out? Is it better to make my purchases in Israel or to purchase in America and do a shipment?

Since you are already living here (Mazal Tov!), I think it would be better, easier and in the long run, cheaper for you to purchase here in Israel. I would sincerely suggest you call Neil Kummer (on this list, "Mr. KEF") and arrange an interview with him, he can answer all your questions and arrange for door-to-door delivery.

Anyone else on this list, before "automatically" going to Aryeh of ABC, I would seriously check out KEF's prices and policies. When you have a problem that needs solving right away, Aryeh is in NYC; Neil is here. It was one of the things I thought was very helpful when I used him oh-so-long ago........

Hint: Neil of Kef who participates on this list (& has a very helpful web site) can help you with most of this (of course for a fee). And no I don't work for him, but do consider him a friend. Long, Here, here. We also bought appliances through KEF, and although there have been some minor problems, Neil deserves great praise for his willingness to provide a great deal of information about a large variety of appliances, and no fee was charged for the information and long discussion about different options - I havent heard of any dealer in the US who is willing to spend time on such discussion or on information gathering if you dont want to go with the standard options.

A commission is charged if you order through him - but even with this, some, but obviously not all, the prices were still cheaper though than ones I was quoted in the US.
